I have been looking for a dog that has potential for service, but I have some questions about what I should look for in a candidate. I might have found one, but what can I do to help me decide? Are there simple things to look for? I did help train our St Bernard dogs when I was growing up, but it has been a long time since.

Can you do another video on this PLEASE!! My dog is a weirdo. She doesn't care for treats when shes working, but sometimes thats whats needed to get her to.follow. I use rotisserie chicken bits. She loves it, but while we are working its a no-go. And toys, she looks at me like I grew another head. We do go get her a pup cup after which is a big reward. She likes that a lot!😅

I am using your videos to train my pet! She is a 6 month old Malinois/Lab mix and hasn't done a lot of public access work, so I don't plan on having her do public access. I would like to train her to help with my needs around ADHD and Autism. I'm confident that she can help me so much at home, and I appreciate the information that you share on your channel!

I did my CGC with my (pet, 10yo) dog at a Petco as an added challenge and it was excellent. Really tested her and made me confident about taking her out different places with reliable behavior. I love taking tests at pet stores with already well trained dogs to really test them against heavy distractions. I'm using my current girl to train myself in task training before my SD prospect arrives next year!

Dog mom math

So, I am about to get a Siberian Husky as a working dog. I currently own four dogs with my wife. We have a wooly siberian husky (9yo), alaskan plushy husky (2yo), black lab (5 yo), and brown lab (7 yo). None of these dogs are trained service dogs, however, they do not beg, pull on leash, etc etc. They all know simple commands such as sit, down, off (couch purposes), recall, etc. All of which are more simple house dog commands. My main concern is the older dogs teaching my new puppy bad habits, such as not having a stay, etc. Is this a concern that is legit? If so, what is the best course of action? BTW. Obsessed with how real you are on this channel and how IMMACULATE the content is. I am about to sign up for your course this weekend :)

Good sneezes! I taught my dogs to sneeze too so I could reward for sneezes rather deal with barking, especially when they are playing.

This is my first video of yours and the most helpful of any I have found so far on ANY service dog training topics. I appreciate that you give options for people who are triggered by crowded places. I have had a really hard time finding a trainer in my area that will train a ptsd service dog (except for one who has a waiting list two years out) so I resorted to owner training. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, just would have felt way more comfortable going places if a trainer was with me. I am starting public access, not vested, in the next week or two at pet friendly locations

So for service dogs. If you have like picking your skin, nail bites, shaking and tapping. Or shaking from your hands a lot. Would service dogs be good for that?

Do you have any videos that deal with training small breed dogs (ie 5-10lbs) to do all the PSD tasks that were mentioned? I’m wondering if small breeds can do most of the items you mentioned (in some capacity) or are some of these tasks limited to only larger breeds to preform? Thanks!!

I trained my dog to settle under the table anytime I at the table which trained for restaurants at same time. so if it is a table in the situation that she fits under she has an auto under. And what a retriever rant. I had decided to get a show retriever then I found a larger newfiedoodle breed. seemed 95% of Goldens were mini. Not a good mobility dog.
